In 1971, Montessori Country School was started by nine local families. In the past 40+ years, the school has moved locations and expanded facilities. We have added additional program options and expanded our hours. While the school has evolved, our mission and focus have remained steadfast: MCS strives to deliver the best preschool and kindergarten experience possible.
Since its inception, the school has remained a non-profit with general oversight, fundraising, parent participation and budgeting handled by a board of directors. We have a professional, full-time Head of School (who oversees the daily operations) and a talented teaching staff totaling over 100 years of experience.
We strive to maintain a small, nurturing atmosphere with a maximum of approximately 85 to 90 students enrolled per year. Following the example of the founding families, we emphasize the importance of family involvement and offer a variety of ways for parents to participate in their children’s “home away from home” and strengthen the school community. Some of our social events include an Ice Cream Social, Oktoberfest, Family Movie Night, and the End of Year Picnic.
