In 1971, Montessori Country School was started by nine local families. In the past 40+ years, the school has moved locations and expanded facilities. We have added additional program options and expanded our hours. While the school has evolved, our mission and focus have remained steadfast: MCS strives to deliver the best preschool and kindergarten experience possible.
Since its inception, the school has remained a non-profit with general oversight, fundraising, parent participation and budgeting handled by a board of directors. We have a professional, full-time Head of School (who oversees the daily operations) and a talented teaching staff totaling over 100 years of experience.
We strive to maintain a small, nurturing atmosphere with a maximum of approximately 85 to 90 students enrolled per year. Following the example of the founding families, we emphasize the importance of family involvement and offer a variety of ways for parents to participate in their children’s “home away from home” and strengthen the school community. Some of our social events include: Ice Cream Social, Oktoberfest, Family Movie Night, and the End of Year Picnic.
