Children may enter in September or anytime throughout the year, depending on space availability. Prior to enrolling, parent and child should visit the school to meet with the administrator and observe the classes.
The Montessori Country School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities accorded or made available to students at the school.
We invite you to come and see for yourself what a delightful place a child’s world can be. Contact the MCS office at (703) 437-8285, or e-mail us at
To apply to Montessori Country School parents should:
- Complete the Application and Child Background forms.
- Submit them to the school with the $75 application fee.
- If your child has previously attended a school, your child’s teacher should be given our Preschool Teacher Narrative form. This form is completed and mailed directly to MCS by your child’s teacher.
- When we receive your completed application, we will then call to schedule your child’s visit. At the visit, your child will go into a classroom and be offered some age-appropriate Montessori work by the teacher.
Parents wait in the lobby or can watch through our one-way observation windows. Child visits for younger students are usually 15 to 30 minutes in length. Visits may be longer for older students or Kindergarten transfers. The Application process is not considered complete until the child visit has been conducted.
For families applying in January or February for fall enrollment, acceptance and wait list letters are sent out the beginning of March, after current family applications have been processed and availability is known. If you wish to be part of this first acceptance letter process your application should be submitted no later than February 15th so that your child visit can be completed by the end of February. Applications are accepted on a space available basis after the February 15th deadline.
